Authorities in Warrap State have suspended the construction of a Mosque in Kuajok town after residents in the area rejected its construction. The Warrap State Ministry of Physical Infrastructure said it stopped the construction of the Mosque after members of the community residing near the planned location for the Mosque said they would destroy it if constructed.

Kuot Mawien Kuot said that the suspension will help avoid conflict between residents and the owners of the Mosque. He further said that the government of the State will allocate another piece of land to the Muslim Community in Kuajok for the construction of a new Mosque.

The Juba Monitor Newspaper says one of its senior editors has been arrested by the security in Juba. The Managing Editor, Michael Koma was arrested yesterday on charges that the newspaper published a press statement that was associating a senior government official from the ministry of interior with the death of a policeman.

The Editor-in-Chief of the Juba Monitor Newspaper, Alfred Taban Logune, told Eye Radio from Nairobi today the circumstances that led to the arrest of Mr. Koma. Mister Taban called for the immediate release of his colleague, saying he will present himself as the Editor-in-chief to the security officers. Mr. Taban said the arrest of a journalist on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day only highlighted the fact that the 2013 Press Freedom Index issued by Reporters Without Borders ranks South Sudan number at 124 out of 180 countries.
