Sudanese President, Omar Al Bashir, has renewed his country’s commitment to help restore stability in South Sudan.

He made pledges of renewed support from his government to the on-going IGAD led negotiations in order to bring lasting peace to the country.

President Omar El-Bashir made the remark when he received a written message from President Salva Kiir, which was delivered by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin on the occasion of the 58^th independence anniversary of Sudan yesterday.

President El-Bashir called for the implementation of the Cooperation Agreements between the two countries, which they signed in September 2012.

“President El-Bashir stressed the need to review and focus on the Cooperation Agreements”. The State Minister at the Sudan’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Obaid Allah Mohamed Obaidallah, told Sudan News Agency, SUNA, following the meeting.

“…the Agreements need to be given an impetus from the leadership of the two countries so that they would be felt by the people on the ground.” He said

President El-Bashir stressed that the ties between Sudan and South Sudan are historical and eternal.
