One of the leaders of the opposition, Peter Abdulrahman Sule, has called on the US Special Envoy to South Sudan to put pressure on the warring parties so they cease hostilities.

 The US Ambassador to South Sudan, Susan Page, has urged the people of South Sudan to focus on peace as they celebrate Christmas.

 Pope Francis has appointed the first Vatican Ambassador to South Sudan. He is US Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo.
