Nearly 50 people have died of malaria this month in Tonj-North County, Warrap State, authorities have said. 

The County Commissioner, Marko Awach Koth, says the outbreak of malaria in his County was because of the increase in mosquito breeding places as a result of the stagnant water.

“This outbreak of malaria needs rescue from organizations,” said Mr Koth.

Commissioner Koth said the malaria drugs that the State Government has given to the County were not enough to cover the nine payams of Tonj- North.

He said the county has a plan to distribute mosquito nets to the people to help them reduce malaria cases.
