Both the SPLA and the Opposition forces say there have been no military confrontations between them since the arrival of the SPLM-IO advance team.

The opposition delegates under the leadership of Taban Deng Gai arrived in Juba on Monday.

SPLA-IO spokesperson Major Dickson Gatluak told Eye Radio’s Dawn Show that it is a clear demonstration that the war has come to an end.

“The guns are silent. This is really very important. Our forces are under main one unit of command of which they have one order,” Maj Gatluak said.

For its part, the SPLA has confirmed that there is no more fighting.

“The situation has been calm in the war affected zones; there is no report of any violations,” said Col Phillip Aguer, Spokesperson.

Both the government and the opposition are currently discussing implementation of the August peace agreement.
