The Minister of Information in Western Equatoria State says three people were killed and 10 others abducted in two separate incidents over the weekend.

Minister Mohamed Juma Bisti said one of the incidents occurred on Saturday when a vehicle carrying security personnel was attacked between Kotobi Payam and Karika Boma in Mundri West County.

He said the vehicle was returning from an official mission in Yambio when it came under attack.

According to the minister, three people were killed in the incident, including an SSPDF soldier, a police officer and a civilian.

Juma condemned the attack and called for those responsible to be held accountable.

He also condemned a separate incident involving a Congolese businessman at Makpandu Camp on the evening of September 11.

According to the minister, unidentified gunmen attacked the businessman’s residence at about 7:19 p.m., set the house on fire and reportedly took 2,000,000 South Sudanese pounds and US$150.

The government has called on communities in the affected areas to cooperate with authorities and provide information that could help investigations into the two incidents.
